Batty for Bats!

One of my favorite lessons out of our Apologia Exploring Creation with Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day text was the one about bats (Lesson 7).
To supplement our lesson, we added a few things.  First, we read Bat Loves the Night by Nicola Davies ...
... and Stellaluna (of course!) by Janell Cannon.  (We LOVE this book!)
We also read The Magic School Bus's The Truth About Bats by Eva Moore ...
... before watching The Magic School Bus's "Going Batty" episode!  (Maggie loves these.)  Here is a video of that episode posted online.
We also found some other great YouTube videos about bats that Maggie enjoyed.
So cute!
This video is fascinating, about a bridge in Texas, the Congress Bridge in Austin, that is the home of millions of bats that depart every night to feed.  Amazing!
As a fun addition to our notebook, we decided to make the origami bats we saw at http://deceptivelyeducational.blogspot.com/2012/03/origami-bats.html.  Didn't they turn out great?
We are batty for bats!
