As you know from previous posts, I am a HUGE advocate for this amazing history curriculum, The Mystery of History by Linda Lacour Hobar. We have gone through it slowly, but deliberately, and Maggie knows so much more history than I did at her age. This curriculum is such a blessing. Occasionally, when we add something (another book or activity) to the great projects Linda already suggests, I will make a blog post about it. This post is referencing Lesson 45 in Volume I ("Israel Falls to Assyria").
I use The Usborne Encyclopedia of World History A LOT with our history lessons because of the amazing colorful drawings and photographs. If you are planning on teaching The Mystery of History, I HIGHLY recommend this book to supplement it. You can purchase it at http://www.usbornereader.us/.
Here are some of the excerpts and pictures from this book that we added to our reading in this lesson.
W even saw an illustration that our MOH text referenced of the many lions that plagued the Samaritans.
Here, Maggie is completing the suggested activity for this book, counting out 100 toothpicks to better visualize the vast number of Israelites who were deported to Assyria (27,290).
We love MOH!
